About the event
Every application you deploy on AWS lives inside a network you design. This is a hands-on workshop: you build along with us in your own AWS account. We start from how AWS is organized around the world — Regions and Availability Zones — and then build a VPC from scratch, step by step.
You'll split it into public and private subnets, give the public side internet access through an Internet Gateway, let private servers reach out through a NAT Gateway without being exposed, and connect to them through a bastion host. By the end you'll understand what each piece does and why a production network is laid out this way.
You'll learn how to
- Explain Regions, Availability Zones and how to choose where to deploy
- Create a VPC and plan its IP address ranges
- Split it into public and private subnets across Availability Zones
- Route internet traffic with an Internet Gateway and a NAT Gateway
- Reach private servers safely through a bastion host
Who it's for
An AWS account is required — you'll build everything in your own account, so create it before the session. You should be comfortable with networking basics (IP addresses, CIDR, subnets). A NAT Gateway costs a few cents per hour, so we'll delete everything at the end.
