1. Who we are
NetDevSpaces ("we", "us", "our") is a bilingual education platform that helps engineers build careers in networking and DevOps. We are operated by NetDevSpaces Inc. and can be reached at privacy@netdevspaces.com.
This policy applies to all personal information we collect when you use our website and platform at netdevspaces.com.
2. What information we collect
- Account information — your name, email address and profile picture, received from Google or GitHub when you choose to sign in with them. We never receive or store your password.
- Learning activity — lessons you complete, quiz answers and scores, certificates issued to you, lab files you download, and hackathons you register for or submit to.
- Event registrations — when you register for a workshop, hackathon or bootcamp, the name, email, preferred language, level and answers you give in the form. We use them only to organize that event and contact you about it. Ask us to remove your registration at any time.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected automatically through server logs and our hosting provider.
- Cookies — see section 6.
You can read every lesson without an account; we only collect account information once you sign in.
3. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and keep you signed in.
- To deliver lessons, quizzes, labs, certificates and hackathons, and to track your progress.
- To issue certificates and let anyone verify them. A certificate's public verification page shows the holder's name, the path completed and the issue date.
- To send transactional emails, such as hackathon reminders you have opted into.
- To improve the platform through aggregated, anonymised usage statistics.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising or advertising profiling.
4. Legal basis for processing
We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws, including Québec's. We process your personal information with your consent, given when you create an account, and as necessary to provide the service you signed up for.
You may withdraw consent at any time by asking us to delete your account (see section 7).
5. Third-party services
We rely on the following sub-processors to operate the platform:
- Supabase — database and authentication. Your account and learning data are stored in Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL databases. Privacy policy
- Railway — hosting for the website and application. Privacy policy
- Amazon Web Services — storage of lab files, delivered through short-lived download links. Privacy notice
- Google and GitHub — sign-in, only if you choose to use them.
Each sub-processor is required to handle your data in accordance with applicable privacy law. We do not share your personal information with any other third party without your explicit consent.
6. Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies:
- Authentication cookies set when you sign in, to keep your session active. They are cleared when you sign out.
- A language cookie that remembers whether you prefer French or English.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics cookies.
7. Your rights
Under PIPEDA and applicable provincial law, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion — ask us to delete your account and all associated data. Deletion is permanent.
- Withdrawal of consent — stop using the platform and have your account deleted at any time.
- Complaint — lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Québec, the Commission d'accès à l'information.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@netdevspaces.com. We respond within 30 days.
8. Data retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active. When your account is deleted, we remove your personal information within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep it.
Anonymised, aggregated data (for example, lesson completion rates) may be kept indefinitely because it cannot identify you.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), per-user access rules in our database, and short-lived links for lab downloads. No system is completely secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at security@netdevspaces.com.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you by email. Continued use of the platform after an update means you accept the revised policy.
